ABOUT:
Island ETC is Galveston County's only professional repertory theatre company and stages 5 to 6 productions a year. Although many in our company were here during the infant stages of what was then called the Strand Street Theatre in the 70's, we have been operating as Island ETC (the east-end theatre company) since 2002. Our previous space was located on Postoffice Street at 20th, but Hurricane Ike devastated that location just as plans were being made to move in and take over the Strand Theatre. Through the generosity of local patrons, we re-opened in July 2009 with a restaging of CABARET the show that put us on the map as a company. The historic Strand Theatre building is a proud and beautifully restored survivor of the Storm of 1900 and Hurricane Ike.
We are located across from the historic Tremont Hotel on Mechanic Street (see our CONTACT page for a map and further info). Parking is street parking and free after 5pm.
STUDENTS on STAGE:
We also offer a children's theatre education program titled Students on Stage that instructs the students in the many areas of theatrical production. Sessions are offered during the academic school year and summer break, and they culminate in 3 live public performances at the end of each session. Information available on our CLASSES page.
RENTALS:
Island ETC is a fully-equipped performance space, and we offer the theater for rentals of independent productions, special events, and conferences. We are also equipped with a digital projector, 15’ drop-down screen, and multi-speaker stereo system for film screenings. We’ve even been known to host a wedding or two!
And we’re about as good a spot as there is to view the annual Mardi Gras parade, so check back for tickets!
We are handicapped accessible and offer special wheelchair seating. Visit our TICKETS page to see a seating chart and to get information on season ticket purchasing.
